Senior India batters not scoring runs in the Test series against New Zealand is a major cause for concern, admitted captain Rohit Sharma. Speaking in the post-match press conference after losing the 3rd Test match against New Zealand in Mumbai, Rohit said India needed to quickly move on from the series defeat.
India were cleansweeped in a home Test series for the first time in their history. Before this, India had never been cleansweeped in a 3-match Test series before this. Sharma fronted the press after the match and said that the team had an opportunity to do something special in Australia and would be focusing on the same.
“It is a concern when seniors aren’t scoring runs. But what’s done is done. As a player, as a captain, as the team, we all have to look forward and see how we can correct what we didn’t manage to achieve here. We have an opportunity to do something special in Australia. We’ll focus on that now,” Rohit Sharma said after the Test match in Mumbai.

“We made a lot of mistakes, so I think those mistakes needs to be addressed. I think it’s important to just focus on that particular series,” he further added.
India have put themselves in a precarious position in the race to the World Test Championship final, after losing 3 matches at home. India now need to win 4 and draw 1 in their remaining 5 matches in Australia to directly qualify for the WTC Final.
